Disney/ABC has signed a new deal extending their partnership with Netflix (which will also mean Netflix adds shows like Alias to their instant queue). They have also signed a deal to put their shows on Amazon Prime's Instant service, which means you will be able to watch Lost instantly on Amazon as early as today.

Lilly joins The Hobbit

As you may know by now, Evangeline Lilly has been cast as Tauriel, a Woodland Elf in the Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit. Not a whole lot is known about her role, except that it does not involve a romantic relationship with Orlando Bloom's character of Legolas.

Lilly won't begin filming her role until September, when the second "block" of shooting begins on the two-film series. Here is a video of Hobbit director Peter Jackson discussing the first block of shooting, which just wrapped:

JJ Abrams and Michael Giacchino discuss their careers

J.J. Abrams and Michael Giacchino have been joined at the hip - so to speak - for at least the past ten years. The former video game score composer was tapped by Abrams to provide music for some of his biggest projects, including Alias, Lost, Star Trek, Super 8, and Fringe. He won the Oscar in 2010 for his score for the Pixar movie "Up." Last month, Abrams and Giacchino sat down and discussed their careers at the Hammer Museum. Here is the video, but be warned: it's 90 minutes long. Enjoy!

Matthew Fox has signed on to a new film, a short time after he said he was considering quitting acting. He will play a serial killer in a reboot of the Alex Cross movie franchise. In the previous Cross films, "Along Came a Spider" and "Kiss the Girls," Morgan Freeman played Cross. In the new film, Tyler Perry takes on the role. No word yet on filming schedule or a release date.

Terry O'Quinn gets a new show

Terry O'Quinn has signed on to a new ABC show. With Michael Emerson already committed to a CBS show, their proposed pilot together won't happen anytime soon. O'Quinn's new show is called "Hallelujah," a drama that focuses on a small town caught in a battle of good and evil, when a stranger appears that may be able to make peace. O'Quinn will play Del, a charismatic but corrupt local millionaire.

Matthew Fox on the London stage

Matthew Fox is getting away from TV and movies by taking to the London stage. He is currently preparing for a role in "In a Forest Dark and Deep," a new play Neil LaBute. Fox will play a brother to a character played by Olivia Williams, who together explore their troubled relationship while at a rural cabin. In an interview with the London Observer, he again said he was done with TV. "I'm never going to do another TV series. People have interpreted that as arrogance, as if I saying I'm destined to have a film career, but that's not it. I just won't have another six-year relationship with a massive conglomerate, one that tells me how high to jump."

Williams also said she was asked to audition for Lost, but she would have had to commit to at least five years on the show and move within 24 hours to Hawaii. She decided against it.

Vintage interview: Matthew Fox talks "Haunted"

CelebritySentry.com has posted an older interview with Matthew Fox from several years ago, when he starred in a short-lived UPN series called "Haunted." Among Fox's comments from the interview:
“When I first read the script for the Haunted pilot I saw very dark, gritty, moody, [film] noir-type images,” says Fox. “Even on the page it had that feel to it. I’m a big fan of that genre. I like those old noir movies and their characters, most of whom seem to be these dark, mysterious gentlemen with some terrible flaw in their past who are looking for redemption through their work. I pictured Frank as someone made from that mold, which I liked. Here’s a guy that feels responsible for the loss of his only son and throws himself into his work as a private eye in his search for redemption. It’s not only about redemption, though, on a subconscious level. It’s also on that very basic level that all parents who have lost a child have, which is the hope that someday they might find him or her.

“Being an ex-cop, Frank realizes, at least from a logical standpoint, that the chances of that are very slim indeed. however, there’s a part of him that still holds out hope against all odds. so that’s another aspect of him that appealed to me. Then you have everything that happens to him in the pilot and what it means to his future. I’m referring to the fact that part of his soul is connected like a string to the limbo between the living and the dead. Frank is serving as a conduit or a way for spirits that are caught in that world to put things right in this world. That’s a whole other challenge to playing Frank. There’s just so much to work with. when you come across a role like this the first thing you say to yourself as an actor is, ‘I don’t know if I can pull all that off.’ That’s actually what spurs me on. there always has to be an element of fear, I believe, in your work and life in general. All this jumped out at me and I knew I had to play this character. so here I am.”

Terry O'Quinn in new Lifetime movie

You'll be able to catch Terry O'Quinn back on TV this month when he stars in "Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story," a true story premiering on the Lifetime cable channel January 31. O'Quinn stars with Oscar-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson, who portrays a woman whose child is abducted by her estranged husband to South Korea. It was a big story in the news several years ago, and it should make for a good movie. No word on who O'Quinn plays.

Josh Holloway finds a new "Mission"

It's official - Josh Holloway has joined the cast of "Mission: Impossible 4," which will be produced by J.J. Abrams and directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles). Holloway will play a member of Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) band of secret agents, which will also include Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, who are reprising their roles from Part 3. Filming is set for later this year, with a December 2011 release date.

Fox orders J.J.'s "Alcatraz"

Another island mystery drama for J.J.? It sure looks like it. Fox Television has ordered a pilot from Bad Robot Productions called "Alcatraz." It written by Liz Sarnoff (a Lost writer) as well as Steven Lilen and Bryan Wynbrandt (who wrote fro Kyle XY) and is described as a "dramatic series that explores the lore and mysteries of Alcatraz, the notorious San Francisco island prison." Since this is an order for a pilot, there is no guarantee this will make it to air. Fox executives must review the pilot before ordering a series, usually in the spring.

Rumors are swirling around Hollywood that Josh Holloway is talking with Marvel Studios about possibly playing a role in the new Avengers movie. It's not clear who he would play, but word is it's a lead role, which could mean anyone from Ant-Man to Hawkeye to "Dum Dum" Dugan. I guess that's one way to get the ladies to see The Avengers. We'll let you know how talks go.

Michael Emerson's character went from the hated Henry Gale to the almost sympathetic Ben Linus in the flash-sideways world that didn't feel worthy to go into the church in the finale. Only an actor as talented as Emerson could pull that off.

Josh Holloway ready for old age and a beer gut

It's no secret that Josh Holloway isn't the Hollywood type, but in a recent interview, he made it clear he's looking forward to growing old and drinking lots of beer. "I love the comfort zone. In my mind, I am a 70-year-old man with a fly rod in one hand and a beer in the other."

Apparently Holloway isn't a fan of constantly taking off his shirt - even though he did so for a Men' Health cover photo - but promises to do so when he hits 70. Mark your calendars, ladies. "I will be that guy! And I'll be unapologetic. I'll be happy to show my Buddha gut, because it will certainly be out. And I will have earned it."

New Lost Trading Cards this July

Rittenhouse has announced a new Lost trading card set coming July 21. Called "Lost Archives," the set covers the entire series, including a bonus subset that covers the final season. There will be FOUR autographs per box, including the stars shown here. A full list of all 30 signers and bonus cards will be available soon. A box of 24 packs will retail for $84 and a specially-designed album to hold your cards will be released as well. Updates are coming soon!

Kimmel's LOST Finale Special Set

Zap2It is reporting the details on Jimmy Kimmel's LOST post-finale show on May 23. Naveen Andrews, Nestor Carbonell, Alan Dale, Jeremy Davies, Emilie de Ravin, Michael Emerson, Matthew Fox, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O'Quinn and Harold Perrineau will all be in studio, while Evangeline Lilly, Jorge Garcia and Josh Holloway will also make "special appearances," which could mean a pre-taped appearance. There is also word that "alternate scenes" from the finale will be shown, but they could be skits filmed on the set, not actual scenes from the show. Looks like the LOST parties will be going late into the night!

"The Hurt Locker" is coming to DVD January 12th in both standard and Blu-ray versions. Evangeline Lilly has a supporting role in the film, that received wide critical acclaim but was criticized by many Iraq War veterans. I never saw the film, but word is Lilly's pretty good in it. You can decide for yourself this January.

E! Online's Kristen Dos Santos is reporting that both Evangeline Lilly and Emilie de Ravin were shooting a scene together in L.A., and one is showing a baby bump! This would fit in to the whole alternate-timeline "the plane lands in L.A." thing, as everyone assumes Claire is the pregnant one and we are seeing what happens if the plane didn't crash. Since ABC is showing no footage from the new season, we can only speculate. February 2 can't get here fast enough!

J.J. Abrams is getting behind the camera for TV again, for the first time since he directed an episode of "The Office" a few seasons back. He is directing the pilot for "Undercovers," a drama about two married spies, for NBC. Abrams also directed pilots for "Alias" and "Lost" as well as the HBO drama "Anatomy of Hope." No air date has been announced.

Dominic Monaghan and Marsha Thomason are finally getting their turns being back on TV. Dom, of course, gets his turn to add to the mystery of "Flash Forward" Thursday night on ABC, and Marsha Thomason (Naomi) is joining the cast of "General Hospital." According to SoapNet, her as-of-yet unnamed character will appear opposite James Franco when he joins the cast in November.

Not only does it feature Season 5 of Lost in hi-def, it includes all kinds of Dharma materials, including an "initiation" box, folder, and paperwork. There's a VHS tape of the instructional videos used in the show, and the DVDs all come in "floppy disc" style slip covers. The goodie-filled set also comes in a regular DVD version (see below) and hits the same day as the regular DVD sets, on December 8.

Kate Says: Save the Earth! Don't Have Babies!

Put this in the "What the?" file. In a recent interview, Evangeline Lilly said people should do their part to save the earth by not having babies. Instead, they should try adopting and not add to overpopulation. Now, I support adoption and feel more people should use it, but who is NOT going have a baby because they think it might be the kid that breaks Mama Earth's back? Of course, Lilly says she would like to have one kid of her own and then adopt others. Hey! Why does she get to have a kid!?! Has she spent too much time in the Hawaii sun?

Terry O'Quinn IS the Stepfather!

There's a good chance most Locke fans haven't seen Terry O'Quinn in the 80's thriller "The Stepfather." If you're not a fan of horror films, then stay away. They are rated "R" and will probably freak you out when you watch the next episode of Lost. With the new version of "The Stepfather" in theaters now, however, I thought some might want to revisit the original, superior version.

J.J.'s Trek the Biggest Ever
